I am usually very excited for any YA lit title. Very few make me want to put the book in the far back corner of my bookshelf, or worse, give the book away.
Unfortunately, The Orphan King was a disappointment to me. The cover intrigued me, and the synopsis caught enough of my attention for me to request a copy of the book. If only the plot could have held my attention. (I suppose a good thing to add here is that I find it EXTREMELY difficult to get excited about anything involving Camelot, castles, and Merlin.)
Even with only 225 pages, I found myself struggling to finish reading the first few chapters of what should have been a quick, enjoyable read. Better luck next time, Brouwer.
